چکیده

The Cambridge Backbone Ring (CBR) is a collaborative project between Olivetti Research Limited and the University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory. The project has designed and built an experimental ring communication network for integrated computer data, voice and real-time video applications. The network is currently aimed as a backbone facility for interconnecting groups of CFR (Cambridge Fast Ring) networks in the Cambridge area. Media access control is through the empty slot technique, with transmitting stations lling multiple slots each ring revolution. The network operates on monomode optical bre and is designed for an eventual line rate of 1000 Mbit/sec In the Backbone Ring architecture 1], the bandwidth of the bre optic channel can be partitioned into a number (currently four) of TDM channels. This enables stations of varying cost and bandwidth to be attached to one network , parameterised by the number of channels a station can use concurrently. Unlike several other TDM ring projects in the literature, the Backbone Ring architecture achieves full connectivity, even with the simplest type of station. 1 Background and Requirement One motive for the Cambridge Backbone Ring project is the provision of high band-width interconnection for clusters of Cambridge Fast Rings. The Cambridge Fast Ring (CFR) 2] is a slotted ring local-area network which operates at 75 Mbit/second over dual twisted pair and multimode optical bres. The Backbone Ring uses an empty slot access protocol which is similar to that used for the CFR. Consequently,

Performance Modelling of the Cambridge Fast Ring Protocol

The Cambridge Fast Ring is a high speed slotted ring. The features that make it suitable for use at very large transmission rates are the synchronous transmission, the simplicity of the MAC protocol and the possibility of immediate retransmission of erronous packets. A new analytical model of the Cambridge Fast ring with normal slots is presented in this paper. The model shows to be accurate an...

Treatment of Displaced Sacroiliac Fracture Using the Lateral Window for Short Plate Buttress Reduction and Percutaneous Sacroiliac Screw Fixation.

Fractures through the sacroiliac joint are very challenging to treat, technically difficult to reduce through closed methods on account of the multiaxial displacement of fractures fragments, frequently occur in very unwell patients, and have poor outcomes if malreduction is present. We describe a technique utilising the lateral window and a short buttress plate to reduce and stabilize th...

The Cambridge Backbone Network An Overview and Preliminary Performance

The CBN o ers an ATM LAN/Man architecture based around a source release slotted ring [1, 4]. The bandwidth of the bre optic channel can be partitioned into a number (currently four) TDM channels. This enables stations of varying cost and bandwidth to be attached to one network, par...

Extreme Conformational Flexibilitv of the Furanose

Consistent force field caiculations have been used to calculate the variation of energy along the pseudorotationai paths of ribose and deoxyribose rings. This energy changes by only 10.5 kcalimol as the ring pucker changes from C3’-endo to C2’-endo. Therefore, the torsion angle 4’ of the sugar-phosphate backbone of nucleic acids is more flexible than a normal C-C single-bond torsion angle and c...
